The City’s New “Lantern Quarter” to Rise on the Site of the Iconic Narai Hotel

Bangkok, ThailandSix Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has officially signed a hotel management agreement with Narai Hospitality Group to launch Six Senses Bangkok, a landmark luxury hotel located in the heart of Silom. This transformative project will be part of Hatai, a new mixed-use development designed to rejuvenate the area while preserving the heritage of the legendary Narai Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1968.

Honoring the Past, Illuminating the Future

Designed by the renowned Heatherwick Studio, Hatai will emerge as Bangkok’s new “lantern quarter,” drawing inspiration from the intricate craftsmanship of traditional Thai lanterns. With sustainability and community at its core, the project is set to revive Silom as a hub of culture, commerce, and wellness.

Six Senses Bangkok will feature approximately 100 spacious rooms and suites, creating a tranquil escape from the city’s vibrant energy. The hotel will embody the brand’s signature approach to wellness, sustainability, and emotional hospitality. Highlights include a rooftop pool, a sky garden, and a Six Senses Spa offering the brand’s renowned high-tech, high-touch therapies.

Sustainable Design Meets Elevated Luxury

In line with Six Senses’ sustainability philosophy, the project aims to achieve both LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications. The development will also incorporate repurposed materials from the original Narai Hotel, including its historic wooden foundation, blending the past seamlessly into a forward-thinking, eco-conscious design.

The interiors, led by BAR Studio and Joyce Wang Studio, will include a 700-square-meter suite, a signature rooftop restaurant, and immersive communal spaces that emphasize biophilic design and natural materials.

A Meaningful Return to Thai Roots

The opening of Six Senses Bangkok marks a significant homecoming for the brand, which originated in Thailand. It will join Six Senses Samui and Six Senses Yao Noi in showcasing how Six Senses’ vision can translate beautifully into both island resorts and urban destinations. The Bangkok property will also complement Six Senses locations in Rome, Kyoto, London, Milan, Dubai, and more.

“It’s a privilege to honor the legacy of the Narai Hotel in such a meaningful location. Together with Narai Hospitality Group, we’re creating a destination that balances rich history with sustainable, wellness-focused luxury — everything Six Senses stands for.”

Nathee Nithivasin, CEO of Narai Hospitality Group, added:

“Our collaboration with Six Senses aligns with our vision of emotional hospitality and sustainable community development. Hatai is more than a place to stay—it’s a living legacy built for future generations.”

A Gateway to Culture, Cuisine, and Connectivity
