Zuellig Pharma Launches “Reduce Size, Reduce Disease”

In Partnership with Thammasat Hospital to Tackle Obesity in Thailand

Thammasat University Hospital has joined forces with Zuellig Pharma, a leading integrated healthcare solutions provider in Asia, to launch the “Reduce Size, Reduce Disease” campaign—a collaborative initiative aimed at combating obesity in Thailand through enhanced education, medical training, and public awareness.

This national campaign is designed to reframe obesity as a chronic disease—not just a lifestyle issue—and to drive greater understanding among Thai patients and healthcare professionals. The program promotes long-term, evidence-based care, and preventive strategies to address the rising burden of obesity-related conditions across the country.

Redefining Obesity as a Chronic Health Condition

The “Reduce Size, Reduce Disease” campaign seeks to transform how Thai society views obesity. Rather than treating it as a simple weight concern, the campaign positions obesity as a complex medical condition associated with numerous chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. The initiative also emphasizes the economic strain that obesity places on Thailand’s healthcare system.

The campaign strongly advocates for professional medical supervision in obesity treatment, highlighting the importance of safe, effective medication use and long-term side effect monitoring—alongside lifestyle adjustments—to achieve sustainable health outcomes.

Empowering Healthcare Providers with Knowledge and Tools

Through this partnership, Thammasat Hospital and Zuellig Pharma will strengthen the capacity of frontline healthcare workers—including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dietitians—by equipping them with practical tools, training, and updated medical knowledge in obesity care.

“Obesity is one of the most critical public health challenges in Thailand today,” said Assoc. Prof. Dilok Piyayotai, Director of Thammasat Hospital. “We are proud to support this initiative, which takes a comprehensive, long-term approach to obesity care—built on medical insight, patient education, and accessible treatment.”

Assoc. Prof. Dilok added, “By empowering healthcare personnel across disciplines with up-to-date, evidence-based strategies, we can ensure accurate diagnosis, encourage shared decision-making, and promote responsible use of medications to support patients on their health journey.”

Driving Awareness and Holistic Self-Care

Sunaiyanaa Kidkasetpaisal, General Manager for Commercialization at Zuellig Pharma Thailand, reiterated the company’s mission to make healthcare more accessible:

“Our campaign is not only about improving treatment access but also about educating society on obesity as a disease. We are committed to advancing holistic healthcare and ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.”

At the campaign’s official launch event, health influencer Bebe Thanchanok Ritnaka emphasized the power of holistic self-care during her session, Dual-Approach to Wellness.

“You can’t just diet. And you can’t just work out. You need both to truly take care of yourself,” Bebe said, underscoring the importance of combining regular physical activity with mindful eating for lasting results.

Also featured at the event was Asst. Prof. Dr. Sanit Wichansawakun, a physician nutrition specialist, who shared valuable insights on nutritional planning and sustainable dietary habits that support metabolic health based on real-world clinical practice.

A Long-Term Commitment to Obesity Education in Thailand

The “Reduce Size, Reduce Disease” campaign will continue to develop academic resources, educational forums, and interactive programs to support Thailand’s evolving landscape of obesity care. With a focus on prevention, education, and professional care, the campaign aims to create lasting change in how obesity is understood and managed nationwide.
