120 Years of British Academic Excellence Expands from London to Thailand

SPGS International School Bangkok is set to open in August 2026, marking a significant milestone in global education as the second international branch of St Paul’s Girls’ School. With a distinguished 120-year legacy and a reputation as one of the UK’s highest-performing schools, the arrival of SPGS in Bangkok introduces a new benchmark for British international education in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Ranked number one in the UK for academic excellence in 13 of the past 14 years, St Paul’s Girls’ School London is globally recognised for exceptional outcomes. An impressive 92 percent of students receive offers from the world’s top 100 universities, while 54 percent secure places at Oxford, Cambridge, and Ivy League institutions. At GCSE level, over 99 percent of grades are awarded at 9–7, equivalent to A*–A, with more than 90 percent of results at A*–A standard for over a decade. This consistent record reflects a deeply embedded culture of intellectual ambition and academic rigour.

As the second international campus worldwide, SPGS International School Bangkok will welcome boys and girls aged 2 to 18. Enrollment for the 2026 to 2027 academic year will open from Pre-Nursery to Year 6, with the Senior School launching in 2027 to 2028. The expansion reinforces the school’s long-term vision to become a leading educational hub in Southeast Asia, offering a premium British curriculum in Bangkok aligned fully with its London counterpart.

A Vision for Distinctive Education in Thailand
Mr Ben Taechaubol, CEO of Country Group Development PCL, shared that Bangkok already benefits from a strong international school community, but SPGS aims to offer something genuinely distinctive. In close partnership with St Paul’s Girls’ School London, the Bangkok campus will deliver an authentic extension of the original school’s ethos, combining progressive thinking, academic ambition, and deep pastoral care.
The campus is located within a THB 14.4 billion mixed-use development on Rama 3 Road, seamlessly integrating elite education into a premium residential environment. This strategic setting positions SPGS International School Bangkok as a leading choice for families seeking a world-class international school in Bangkok.

Academic Excellence with Intellectual Vitality
Rooted in more than 120 years of heritage, the St Paul’s philosophy emphasises intellectually challenging and meaningful learning. Classrooms are designed to be collaborative and dynamic, encouraging students to debate, question, and explore their interests with confidence.

Ms Liz Hewer, High Mistress of St Paul’s Girls’ School London, described the Bangkok opening as an exciting milestone. Under the leadership of Mr Leigh O’Hara, Founding Headmaster of SPGS International School Bangkok and former Deputy Head and Director of School at the London campus for 11 years, the school’s pedagogy and values remain fully aligned with London standards. Families can expect the same academic excellence, pastoral strength, and breadth of opportunity.

Mr Leigh O’Hara emphasised the holistic approach that defines an SPGS education. The curriculum is broad and future-focused, nurturing creativity, intellectual curiosity, and strength of character. Close collaboration with Thai educators and families ensures that the learning environment respects and learns from Thai culture while delivering a truly outstanding British education in Thailand.

Enhanced English Curriculum and IBDP
SPGS International School Bangkok will follow an enhanced English National Curriculum alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The academic programme combines traditional rigour with modern innovation, including a dedicated Centre for Design and Innovation and an extensive co-curricular offering spanning academics, sports, arts, and music.

A defining feature will be the introduction of School Directed Courses at Key Stage 4 for students aged 14 to 16. Developed in-house by St Paul’s Girls’ School London, these courses extend beyond standard GCSE specifications to promote deeper understanding and creativity. SPGS International School Bangkok will be the only school outside London to deliver these distinctive School Directed Courses in Creative Technology, Computer Science, Drama, Music, and Art, further strengthening its position as a premium British international school in Bangkok.

World-Class Facilities in the Heart of Bangkok
Designed to accommodate more than 1,800 students, the campus will feature state-of-the-art facilities including a 600-seat auditorium and black box theatre, professional recording studio, indoor swimming pool, skyline football pitch, covered tennis courts, wellbeing centres, Centre for Design and Innovation, and a dedicated Forest School for outdoor learning.

Guided by its motto, An Education Rich in Meaning and Possibility, SPGS International School Bangkok is committed to nurturing social, emotional, and academic growth in equal measure. By combining 120 years of proven excellence from London with forward-thinking innovation in Thailand, SPGS International School Bangkok is poised to redefine international education in Bangkok for the next generation.
