Diabetes research and the knowledge attainment (Affordability Project)

The Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health and Department of Medical Services Foundation signed an MOU with Novo Nordisk Pharma Thailand

The Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, led by Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Director – General of the Department of Medical Services, together with Dr. Pairoj Surattanawanich, representatives the Board Director of Department of Medical Services Foundation and Mr. John Dawber, Vice President and General Manager of Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand) Co., Ltd., signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the Affordability Project in Thailand, witnessed by Dr. Bootsakorn Loharjun, Director of Institute of Medical Research and Technology Assessment, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Ms. Uma Wandee, Board Directors and Secretariat, Department of Medical Services Foundation and Mrs. Selina Christodoulakis, Director of Rare Diseases and Patient Access, Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The signing was held on 11 August 2022 at meeting room 2, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines the objectives to cooperate diabetes research in Thailand leading to real practice, enhance the standard of diabetes care, and subsequently consign the attainment to healthcare clusters nationwide.

The Department of Medical Services Foundation received funding for project operation and other related activities in the amount of 23.2 million baht from Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand) Co., Ltd. a leading innovative diabetes drug company in Thailand for more than 39 years. Whereas the period of the cooperation memorandum will begin 1 September 2022, till 31 December 2024.
