A new benchmark for premium travel on Koh Samui’s northern coast

Thailand’s luxury hospitality scene is entering a defining new phase with the launch of Club Med Exclusive Collection Koh Samui, the first Exclusive Collection resort in the country by Club Med. Developed in partnership with Central Group Capital, the project represents one of the most significant resort investments in southern Thailand in recent years.

Set along the pristine coastline of Koh Samui, the resort will become only the second Club Med property in Thailand, following the long-standing success of Club Med Phuket, which first opened in 1985. More than four decades later, this new opening signals a clear evolution of the brand’s luxury positioning, designed to meet the expectations of today’s global traveller.

The timing aligns with renewed international attention on Koh Samui as a high-end destination. The island has seen a surge in visibility, particularly following the filming of the latest season of The White Lotus, which has driven growing demand for design-led, experience-focused resorts. Combined with Thailand’s expanding influence in wellness, lifestyle, and global pop culture, the country continues to attract a new generation of affluent travellers.

At the core of Club Med Exclusive Collection Koh Samui is the concept of “New Luxury.” Rather than traditional ultra-luxury defined by exclusivity and à la carte pricing, the resort introduces a fully all-inclusive model that combines premium comfort with simplicity and transparency. Guests can expect a seamless stay where gourmet dining, premium beverages, curated activities, family programmes, and entertainment are all included in a single price.

This approach removes one of the most common friction points in luxury travel. There are no hidden costs or constant decisions around add-ons. Instead, the experience is designed to prioritise ease and immersion, allowing guests to focus entirely on the destination. For modern travellers, this model offers a more intuitive and flexible way to experience luxury.
The vision for the resort is a sophisticated yet approachable beachfront retreat. The design blends the intimacy of a boutique resort with a human-centric philosophy that emphasises cultural connection, diversity, and effortless hospitality. It aims to deliver not just accommodation, but a more meaningful way to experience the island.

The partnership with Central Group Capital reinforces strong confidence in Thailand’s long-term tourism growth. Backed by one of the country’s largest conglomerates and a fully subscribed inaugural fund valued at approximately 10 billion baht, the development reflects both scale and ambition.
Located on Koh Samui’s northern coast, the resort will feature 303 rooms and direct access to a private beach stretching over 200 metres. Guests will have access to a wide range of beachfront experiences, from water sports to wellness-focused activities, reflecting the growing demand for holistic travel experiences.

The architectural direction draws inspiration from Thai heritage while embracing a contemporary island aesthetic. The result is a design language that feels modern yet grounded, offering a strong sense of place while maintaining an elevated atmosphere.
Signature Club Med programmes, including Kids Club and Amazing Family, will also be introduced, ensuring the resort caters to a wide range of travellers, from couples to multi-generational families. These curated experiences are designed to encourage shared moments while still allowing personal space and flexibility.
Beyond international markets, Club Med Exclusive Collection Koh Samui is expected to resonate strongly with domestic travellers. The all-inclusive pricing model provides clarity and value, offering a high-end escape without unpredictable additional costs. This positions the resort as a compelling alternative to the villa-only, pay-as-you-go model commonly seen in the region.

Globally, the Exclusive Collection represents a fast-growing segment within Club Med’s portfolio, spanning resorts, private villas, chalets, and even yacht experiences. This expansion reflects a broader shift in the definition of luxury travel, one that moves away from formality and toward freedom, ease, and curated experiences.
Scheduled to open in the second half of 2028, Club Med Exclusive Collection Koh Samui is poised to become a key player in Thailand’s next wave of luxury tourism. As demand for experiential and all-inclusive travel continues to rise, the resort sets a new benchmark for what modern luxury can look like, effortless, immersive, and designed for the way people travel today.
